“Readers become leaders,” said Mayor Mike Chamberlain, one of the founding partners of the Read 815 Challenge. “Reading is the path to a successful future. Reading is for both adults and children. Read with your kids. Read to your kids. Read for yourself.”

Reading is a wonderful way to discover facts for yourself. Opinions expressed on television, the radio, or in textbooks may not be actual fact. But you will not know for sure unless you check it out and find out what really happened.

Read 815 is a challenge to every person in our community to read a book a week between now and the start of the school year. It is also a challenge to every adult in our community to encourage a child or group of children to take the Read 815 Challenge, and to read with and alongside them as needed.

Everyone can participate. Everyone can help.
