At the Oct. 31 Loves Park City Council meeting, Aldermen gave approval to an ordinance, second reading, for the City to enter into a redevelopment agreement with DYN Kishwaukee, LLC, for the southwest corner of E. Riverside Blvd. and Forest Hills Road. City of Loves Park Public Works and Development Director Dan Jacobson explained that the redevelopment agreement, which is aimed at bringing more business into the City, provides Tax Increment Financing (TIF) assistance. Additionally, the property has now been included in the Business Development District incentive program (“similar to what was done at Meadow Mart”). DYN Kishwaukee is planning to build up to four buildings in the complex’s former parking lot and is currently working on leases now. The old K-Mart/Sears building will be renovated to attract other business. Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly Police Activity Report for the week of Oct. 23-29, in which 493 calls for service, 201 arrests and 18 accidents were reported. On the weekly Fire Department Report dated Oct. 30, one fire call, one false fire alarm call, one assist police call, two carbon monoxide or gas leak calls, one smoke or odor investigation call, and one public service call were reported. Aldermen approved payment of $35,368.72 in water fund bills, and $408,755.18 in general fund and all other bills, as presented Oct. 24. Mayor Darryl Lindberg announced that the Fifteenth Annual Loves Park Fireman’s Association “All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast” was set for Nov. 6. He also made note that the annual “Tribute to Veterans” event was scheduled for Thursday morning, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. with decorated VietNow member Mary Nicholls as the keynote speaker, and the Harlem High School Wind Ensemble and Choraleers would take part. A resolution was approved authorizing the City to continue participation with the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association for insurance on City property, worker’s comp and liability insurance for Fiscal Year 2017. It also authorized the City Treasurer to make one premium payment by Nov. 23 amounting to $409,235.23, which garners the City a $4,941.77 early pay discount. The Mayor was also authorized to sign the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association’s “MIN/MAX Contribution Agreement for 2017,” resulting in saving the City $58,774.32. A resolution was passed authorizing Great Lakes Water Resources Group of Durand to perform motor and coupler repairs to the Filter Plant, Well No. 1, for $3,900. An ordinance, second reading, was approved for a Class E (packaged beer and wine for fueling/gas stations and convenience stores) for the Riverside Phillips 66 in the 6400 block of E. Riverside Blvd. |
