LOVES PARK – At the Feb. 29 Loves Park City Council meeting, Alderman Clint Little advised members that two fire calls taken in the previous week were both due to clogged dryer vents.
Little advises residents “to do simple maintenance, maybe a half hour’s time, to make sure the vents are cleared out. Besides saving repair costs, it might save a life,” he said.
Alderman Little gave the weekly police activity report for the week of Feb. 21-27, in which 474 calls for service, 235 arrests, and 13 accidents were logged.
On the weekly fire department report dated Feb. 28, two fire calls, one false fire alarm call, one mutual aid call, two carbon monoxide or gas leak calls, and two extrication calls were reported.
Aldermen approved payment of $6,600.73 in water fund bills, and $394,000.71 in general fund and all other bills, as presented Feb. 22.
Alderman Greg Jury gave the ending balance amount from the treasurer’s January report. The amount came to $8,059,142.68. Mayor Darryl Lindberg noted that, “It’s good to see that account steadily rising!”
Negotiated bids were received authorizing the purchase of office furniture for the water department and an amount not to exceed $3,886 for items from Michalsen Office Furniture in Machesney Park was okayed.
A resolution authorizing tree removal services associated with the Willow Creek Trail project at an amount not to exceed $8,500 was approved. Foss Landscaping Of Machesney Park will do the work.
A resolution seeking negotiated bids to paint portions of the water department facility was approved.
