Ribbon Cutting set for new HCC Complex
At the Jan. 21 bi-monthly city council meeting, Mayor Greg Jury announced that a ribbon-cutting for the new Harlem Community Center (HCC) Complex was set for Friday, Jan. 31.
*A resolution was okayed approving an amended notice and rescheduled date regarding the Joint Review Board for the Central Manufacturing District Redevelopment Project Area.
*A resolution passed authorizing the mayor to hire Shane Lynch for the full-time position of Enforcement Officer in the Community Development Department with a start date of
Jan. 27.
*A resolution was passed authorizing the water department manager to hire Midwest Well Services, Inc./Municipal Well & Pump “to remove and investigate potential issues” at Well No. 5 for a cost of $49,620.
*Additionally, a resolution was approved authorizing the water department manager to hire Midwest Well Services, Inc./Municipal Well & Pump to perform emergency well rehabilitation at Well No. 4 for the cost of $76,220.
Per the fire department’s activity report covering Jan. 2-16, there were 114 EMS incidents, 18 service calls. 3 fires responded to, and “all other call types” totaled 32, plus calls for service received were 167.
Per the police department bimonthly activity report between Dec 15 and 28, there were 827 calls for service, 17 arrests, 162 tickets and warning issued, and 33 vehicle crashes reported.
Between Dec. 24 and Jan. 13, among other duties, water department employees repaired a water main break in the 5700 block of Hollis Ave., assisted in repair of a water main break in the 800 block of Clifford Ave., repaired a water main break at Argyle and Cross Creek. repaired a watermain break in the 5800 block of N. 2nd St., hauled in material and stone, had annual radium training, performed monthly water shut offs, repaired water service in the 5200 block of Harlem Road, and repaired a water main break at Windsor Road and First St.
During the week of Dec 30 to Jan 13, street department workers, among other tasks, took down all Christmas lights, helped the water department with water main repairs, and completed snow removal.
It was announced that the next scheduled bi-monthly city council meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 3.
