ROCKFORD – The Belvidere girls’ varsity co-op golf team, made up of both Belvidere and Belvidere North athletes, lost a match to Rockford co-op on Thursday, Sept. 10 at Ingersoll Golf Course. Rockford won 173-188.

Despite the loss, Belvidere’s top athletes still brought home some proud accomplishments and extraordinary scores for their season.

Maddie Strum led the team with a 41, while Sara Redig, Brenna Rieches, and Morgan McNulty scored the next three lowest scores for their team to reach their team total of 188.

Sara Redig and Brenna Rieches both scored 50s and Morgan McNulty beat her average when she ended with a 47.

McNulty also showed improvement when she got an eagle on #6 with a par of five.

Gracie Thies and Josie Rieches also represented the Belvidere Bucs with their totals of 57 and 56.

However, the Rockford co-op team came out strong with their four top athletes scoring incredibly low.

Medalist for the match, Madasyn Peterson scored a 35, with teammate Kayla Photiboupha not falling too far behind her with a 38.

Kristen Saggaliah and Taylor Brown also made up the top four with their scores of 44 and 56.

Just falling short of the top players were Cydney Raymen with a 57 and Caitlin Waddell with a 65.

Scores are courtesy of Coach Dan Koenings.

“Although the girls lost to the RKFD Co-Op…all the girls on Belvidere Varsity Team beat their averages and shot a 3rd best team low of 188, Belvidere Coach Dan Koenings said. “Morgan McNulty made her first eagle on the par 5 #6 hole. Great job Morgan.”
