Rockford man arrested in Loves Park after fleeing police
On Thursday, Feb. 16, at about 9 a.m. a Loves Park officer attempted to stop a vehicle allegedly being dri-ven eastbound at 50 MPH in a 30 MPH speed zone on Riverside Blvd.
The driver accelerated and drove over a center median near Riverside and Clifford Ave., flattening both front tires. Losing control of the vehicle, the driver nearly collided with a second police car, before continuing eastbound on Riverside Blvd.
The driver exited the moving car at Forest Hills and Riverside. As the car came to a rest, the driver ran southeast behind Walmart on Northridge Dr. The officer gave chase.
As the officer caught up with the driver outside Ale-gro Academy, 6413 Forest Hills Road, he shoved the driver to the ground. The driver immediately started to get back to his feet and the officer used a chemical irritant on him. The driver was
