ROCKTON – Run by community volunteers the Rockton Easter egg hunt brought smiles and loads of fun to local residents. Action was hopping as families poured into the Greater Rockton Centre Sunday, March 20 as hundreds of little ones searched through over 4,000 eggs to find toys or candy hidden inside.
The Easter bunny greeted young and young alike. Pickles the Clown entertained by creating special balloon characters, and gave out lots of hugs!
Egg decorating, crafts and games rounded out the day’s action. A brand new egg roll game proved to be a popular place to visit. Pin the nose on the Bunny,” bunny sack races, a “Great egg Race,” musical chairs, hot egg games and a “Pick a Chick” and bean bag bunny toss were also played. Food and refreshments were provided in a fully festive atmosphere.
Three hours of free fun and entertainment filled the 2016 Easter egg hunt with plenty of photo opportunities and a chance to make memories.
Special thanks are sent to the sponsors of this year’s event: Rockton Township, Sugar Britches, Village of Rockton, Gary Bach Agency, Rockton American Legion – Ladies Auxiliary; Sons of the Legion and Riders, Rockton Lion’s Club, and to the food sponsors: Sam’s Pizza and Quality Plastering. Dr. Andrena Sayles was exclusive sponsor of the Pickles the Clown.
Generous donations came from Macktown Lion’s Club and Crafty Kids by Macktown, Rich’s Treasure Chest, Tom Jencius, Sharon Hecox and Ryan Rydell for a lovely flyer design.

Rockton’s Easter egg hunt is a tradition that has been ongoing since the late ’60s. This year marked the sixth that it was held in the indoor venue of the Greater Rockton Centre offering a free pre-Easter event providing families with quality time.
