Rockton Historical Offered ‘Trash to Treasures’ at Annual Sale

Rockton Township Historical Society members have been scouring their attics and barns in preparation for their annual fundraiser. On Saturday, Oct. 22, they hosted the “Trash to Treasures” rummage sale at the Rockton Township Historical Society Museum at 529 Green St. in Rockton. Doors opened at 8 a.m. Long-forgotten vintage goods are hot items these days. The rummage sale offered shoppers the opportunity to find a few diamonds in the rough. Everything from antique spats and ice skates to a large selection of Christmas decorations were up for grabs. Glassware, books, dishes, toys and furniture were among the hundreds of items on display.
Historical society member Marilyn Mohring said there had been a steady stream of shoppers and “lookers” throughout the day. “We will be holding a White Elephant sale and bake sale during Rockton’s Christmas Walk weekend, Dec. 3. The only other fundraiser we have scheduled is Rhubarb Fest next spring.” Mohring said proceeds from the sales “keep the doors open.” From April through September, the Museum is open to the public on Saturdays. During the winter months it is open by appointment.
The Historical Society presently has about 60 members. They meet the fourth Monday of the month at the Museum. The public is invited to attend.
