Seniors get a delivery of love for Valentine’s Day

Sen. Dave Syverson made Valentine’s Day a heart-warming one for area senior citizens, thanks to a host of volunteers who participated in a card-making event.
The office of state Sen. Dave Syverson just completed his 5th annual Valentines for Seniors Card Drive this year. The senator personally delivered Valentines to several senior citizen facilities in Boone County as well as other parts of our district.
Many schools and community organizations in the Boone County as well as the surrounding area participated in the drive. It has continued to be a much beloved community outreach program, and the beginning of each year, many ask our office how they can help. Over 6,000 Valentines were received and distributed.
Among the donor groups were: Karen Gadke, Mary Gwardys, Sarah Minnist and Renee Henert, All Saints Catholic Academy, Boone County GOP, Harvard Jr. High, Riverdale Elementary, Cortland Elementary, Conley Elementary, St. Charles Borromeo School, The French Club for Senior Citizens, Marengo Middle School, Kennedy Middle School (National Beta Club), Beyer Early Childhood Center, North Boone High School, Belvidere Family YMCA, North Boone Upper Elementary, Grant Intermediate School, Marengo-Union Chamber of Commerce, Spectrum School, Owen Blue Bonnet 4H Club, Circuit Clerk’s Office, Regional Office of Education, Rockford Christian, Christian Life Elementary School, Marshall Elementary School, Grant Intermediate School, Thurgood Marshall Middle School, Whitehead Elementary School, Harvard High School and Marengo-Union Chamber.
