Shaylar Brunell commits to playing football for Southwest Minnesota State University

ROCKTON – Hononegah High School (HHS) senior Shaylar Brunell signed a letter of intent to play football for the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. The university is a Division II school.
HHS Athletic Director Steve Cofoid said Brunell played basketball and football his freshman year at HHS. He played on the on the varsity team as a defensive back during his sophomore, junior and senior year.
During his career, Brunell had 37 solo tackles, 28 tackle assists, 10 pass break-ups and four interceptions.
“Shay is the best technical corner back that I have been able to coach,” Coach Bryan Jenkins said. “He’s a great kid and has a great work ethic. I have seen a lot of growth academically as well as athletically.”
