Sheriffs Office investigates two-vehicle fatal traffic crash
A 25-year-old Bartlett man was pronounced dead Monday evening and a 51-year-old McHenry woman was hospitalized in serious condition after a two-vehicle accident in the 2200 block of Illinois South Route 31 in unincorporated Prairie Grove.
Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2002 Cadillac Deville was traveling southbound on Illinois South Route 31 at 6:11 p.m., Monday. After the Cadillac overtook another vehicle traveling southbound, it lost control and entered the northbound lane where it collided with a northbound 2003 Mercury Mountaineer.
The driver of the Mercury, Colleen Dilone Victoriano, 51, was transported by ambulance to Centegra Hospital in McHenry. Dilone Victoriano was wearing her seatbelt and there was airbag deployment in her vehicle. The driver of the Cadillac was transported to Centegra Hospital in McHenry by ambulance where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing his seatbelt and there was airbag deployment. The driver of the Cadillac’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office. Members of the Crystal Lake and McHenry Fire Protection District along with the McHenry City Police Department and Prairie Grove Police Department assisted at the scene.
