Hailey Smith was part of UW-Whitewater’s club softball team that earned a national title on May 19.

    Hailey Smith, an Elementary Middle Education major from Stillman Valley and graduate of Byron High School, is a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater club softball team, which earned the 2024 National Club Softball Association Division II national championship after winning the recent World Series.

    The Warhawks topped Salisbury University on May 19 by a 14-4 score in the World Series final to claim the program’s first-ever title. Club president Gabby Braatz, a chemistry major from Wausau, Wis., was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

    UW-Whitewater finished 2-1 in pool play before winning consecutive games in bracket play to capture the championship. The team finished the season with an 18-4 record.
