Some major projects coming in Loves Park
At the March 18 Loves Park bi-monthly city council meeting, aldermen were busy approving expenses through resolutions, which all passed:
*A resolution was passed releasing Executive Session Minutes.
*A resolution to authorize the Chief of Police to purchase five 2025 Ford Police Utility vehicles from Rock River Ford for $231,590 with a 36-month lease through Stillman Bank.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for the 2024 City Wide Street Improvement Program, cost not to exceed $20,500.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for the 2025 City Wide Street Improvement Program, not to exceed $38,490.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for the Evans Ave. Reconstruction, cost not to exceed $60,000.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for replacing existing trench drain on Windsor and Forest Hills Roads intersection, cost not to exceed $19,800.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for converting a right in only driveway, to a right in right out driveway, cost not to exceed $9,100.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for the upgrade of ditches and to see if curbs, gutter and storm sewer is needed for Shadybrook Trail, Stallion Court, Painted Pony Lane, Hayfield Lane, Red Barn Road, Swansdown Road and Hummingbird Trail, cost not to exceed $25,000.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for the reconstruction of Riverside Blvd. from North 2nd to the Riverside Bridge, cost not to exceed $79,500.
*A resolution awarding Northern Illinois Services the Evans Avenue reconstruction project, not to exceed $1,157,522.22.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to extend Stenstrom Excavation & Blacktop Group for the City wide patch project utilizing the 2023 unit pricing, cost not to exceed $140,000.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for a drainage study on Windsor Road from N 2nd to N 4th St., cost not to exceed $12,400.
The quote from ArcDesign notes, “Based on our conversations, the City is dealing with substantial ponding on Windsor Road in front of the junior high school during normal rainfall events.” ArcDesign “will prepare a storm sewer model that will be used for the basis of the study” after which time, the company will prepare an exhibit and associated cost estimate to the City.
*A resolution authorizing the Street Department Manager to hire ArcDesign Resources for a drainage study on Material Avenue that connects to a storm sewer on Windsor Road, cost not to exceed $10,000.
–Per the fire department activity report from Feb. 29 through March 13, 105 EMS incidents, eight service calls, four fire responses and 24 miscellaneous call types were reported.
–Per the police department activity report dated Feb. 18, 1,094 calls were received, 46 arrests were made, 510 tickets and warnings were issued, and 29 vehicle crashes were responded to by officers.
Per the street department report from Feb. 26 to March 11, workers finished a “punch list” for ditch inspection, continued to work on street lights, performed miscellaneous shop work and worked on city vehicle repairs, and swept clean all center islands on all main roads.
The water department workers, between Feb. 27 and March 11, scheduled appointments for JULIE locates, did meter exchanges, CB/VB repairs, performed hydrant repairs and maintenance, grounds maintenance, routine equipment maintenance, scheduled appointments, assisted in the front office for training, worked on the Woodlake Court water main break, performed 5156 Pebble Creek service repair, along with a number of other duties. The whole office staff received Excel training and the garbage billing audit was completed.
