Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution announce award recipients
Stillman Valley High School is proud to announce the recipients of the 2016-2017 Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution Awards. The winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) award is Taylor Lewin, and the winner of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) award is Braeton McKenzie. Each year the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution honors one male and one female from each of the fifty states who represent the qualities of leadership, dependability, service, and patriotism. The purpose of the award is to pay tribute to youthful character and to call attention to those qualities that are desirable in good citizens. Meagan Burris, school counselor at SVHS, stated, “Both Taylor and Braeton exhibit the honorable qualities desired for this award. They are students with integrity, honesty, and reliability.” The recipients were first nominated by the teachers and staff at SVHS, and then the senior class voted on the top three males and females. The nominees for the DAR award were Maris Daleo, Anna Hess, Taylor Lewin, and Emma Wise. The nominees for the SAR award were Connor Duffy, Braeton McKenzie, Nolan McNames, and Caden Wiehle. Congratulations to Braeton, Taylor, and all nominees on this honor.
