Mayor Darryl Lindberg received a surprise visitor at the Nov. 21 Loves Park City Council meeting. Illinois State Representative John Cabello, 68th District, was on hand to honor the Mayor on behalf of the State Assembly with a certificate commending him for his years of dedicated service to the City. When the current mayoral term is up in April, Lindberg is retiring from public service after 20 years as the Mayor of Loves Park. Before that he served as a Police Officer and as the City’s Chief of Police.
Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly Police Activity Report for the week of Nov. 13-19, in which 588 calls for service were received, 223 arrests, warnings and tickets issued, and six accidents were reported. On the weekly Fire Department Report dated Nov. 20, two fire calls, and one false fire alarm call were received for the week. Aldermen okayed payment of $20,846.16 in Water Department bills, and $861,577.64 in general fund and all other bills, as presented Nov. 14. A resolution was approved authorizing Police Chief Chuck Lynde to seek negotiated bids for the remodeling of three rooms in the Police Department building.
Two ordinances, second reading were passed: An ordinance amending a chapter to clarify the timing requirements for the requesting of an administrative hearing following the impounding of a vehicle was okayed, as was one amending an ordinance to prohibit the use, purchase and possession of alternative nicotine products and accessories by minors within the City.
One ordinance, first reading, providing for a Class R1 (restaurant with an enclosed beer garden) Liquor License for Pub. 815 on E. Riverside Blvd. was passed.
