Sue Buntjer receives Individual Excellence in Outstanding Programming Award
University of Illinois Extension would like to congratulate Sue Buntjer on receiving the Individual Excellence in Outstanding Programming award at the statewide Illinois Nutrition Education Program (INEP) conference in Champaign. The award recognizes excellence in overall work performance meeting the needs of targeted audiences with nutrition and healthy-lifestyle education. Sue was one of only three people in the entire state receiving the award.
Sue has been an Illinois Nutrition Education Program (INEP) Community Worker with University of Illinois Extension in Ogle County since August of 2012. During her tenure with Extension, she has also served Boone County as needed. Sue works with partners and staff to reach limited resource audiences of all ages using a variety of approved curriculum. Program sites include schools, food pantries, preschools, health departments and more.
Sue was recognized for her tireless efforts in continually increasing the number of programs delivered, as well as sites visited and participants reached. It was noted that she consistently exceeds target goals. Special acknowledgement was offered for her work with the Illinois Junior Chef program held at multiple locations this past summer.
INEP focuses on reaching program participants where they are, in their own communities. Through nutrition and cooking classes, interactive displays, and online resources, INEP provides information and teaches the skills necessary to help prepare healthier meals, spend limited food budgets effectively, and make healthy living a natural part of every day.
