SVHS holds first FBLA induction ceremony
On Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, Stillman Valley High School’s Future Business Leaders of America held its first annual FBLA induction ceremony. FBLA is a national business and technology student-run organization for middle school, high school and college. FBLA trains students in competent, aggressive business leadership, greater understanding of the American business enterprise system and encourages members to improve their skills in the areas of business, technology, citizenship and patriotism.
The ceremony started at 6 p.m. at the high school. Honorary speaker for the event was Mrs. Leslie Showers, the Principal of SVHS.
In her speech, Mrs. Shower’s stated, “It is clear that innovation is at the heart of FBLA and the vision of all those associated with such an outstanding organization. Stillman Valley High School and our surrounding businesses will certainly be the benefactors of confident students who share a future-forward approach to aggressive business and technology leadership, an understanding of the American business enterprise, and a dedication to develop character and citizenship.”
Twenty-three students were inducted as full members with full rights and responsibilities into the organization. Following the induction ceremony, parents, business sponsors and guests were invited to a dinner provided by Jo Jo’s in Rockford.
