On Sunday, Dec. 19, at 9:43 p.m., Boone County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a body had been discovered in the 600 block of Union Avenue in Belvidere.

Belvidere police officers responded to the scene and located what appeared to be an adult and two children deceased in the residence.

Belvidere detectives executed a search warrant on the residence. Illinois State Police Crime Scene processed the scene for evidence.

It was determined that Andrew Hintt, 31, was found along with his two young sons, ages 5and 7. All three had suffered gunshot wounds.

During the course of the investigation, Belvidere detectives discovered Alize Q. Smith, 24, of Huntley was with Andrew and the two boys on the morning of Dec. 19.

On Tuesday, Dec. 21, at approximately 9 a.m., an autopsy was conducted on Andrew Hintt and his two sons. The Boone County coroner, Rebecca Wigget, has classified the deaths of Andrew and his two sons as homicides.

Tuesday, Dec. 21, the Belvidere Police Department was contacted by the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force advising they had taken Alize into custody on an Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) warrant for parole violations.

Belvidere detectives interviewed Alize at the Belvidere Police Department. Alize was lodged into the Boone County Adult Detention Center on the unrelated IDOC warrant with no bond.

On Dec. 21, the Huntley Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service and Belvidere police detectives executed a search warrant for a residence in the 11000 block of Timer Drive, Huntley, where several pieces of evidence were seized from the residence.

The investigation is ongoing and Belvidere police are looking for any information that the public may have regarding this horrific tragedy.
