Wanted: participants for a free educational event
BELVIDERE – Are you between the ages of 62 and 64? Are you wondering about Health Care? What is the difference between Medicare and Medicaid? What does Medicare Part A cover? What is Medigap Insurance? Did you know that each year one out of three seniors over the age of 65 will have a fall? Each year, 2.5 million older people are treated in emergency departments for fall injuries. How can you prevent falls?
Get the answers to these and many other questions at the Boone County Council on Aging’s new, free, educational program to be held at the Keen Age Center, 2141 Henry Luckow Lane in Belvidere.
Pick your class! Sessions are as follows and each is limited to 10 individuals:
The first class is on Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by another class at 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The next set of class dates fall on Nov. 18. The first class is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the second is at 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The next class date is Nov. 19. The first class is at 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the second class is at 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The last class will be held on Nov. 20. Individuals between the ages of 62 and 64 can come to the 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. class.
The senior citizens who attend these classes will learn about what Medicare is, how to decide what health insurance is right for them, how to prevent falls, and will receive tips on how to keep their homes safe.
The class attendees will also receive a free copy of “What to do for Senior Health” book, a free VISA $25 gift card, free transportation to and from each class, and free refreshments.
