Saturday, Aug. 13

The Autism Program of Easterseals, Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall, and First Northern Credit Union are hosting the 8th annual Autism Awareness Event where community members can learn more about autism spectrum disorder. The event includes hands on learning opportunities families can use to incorporate into their child and family’s life. Local organizations will have resource tables for attendees to learn more about the services in northwest Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Other activities include visits from Hammy from the Rockford IceHogs and Ronald McDonald, a bouncy house, chair yoga, and more. The Autism Program of Easterseals, Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall, and First Northern Credit Union are hosting the event with other local sponsors and community partners. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall, located at 7070 Cherryvale N. Blvd. in Cherry Valley.

The Dairy Bean, located at 13561 Julie Dr. in Poplar Grove, is hosting a pet adoption event with the Winnebago County Animal Control. Come out for some treats and to give a pet a new home.

 

The Belvidere High School girls’ golf teams will play at 4 p.m. against Hampshire at Randall Oaks Golf Course.

 

Sunday, Aug. 14

The EAA Chapter 1414 will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum.

 

Salon La “T” Da in Poplar Grove is reaching out to kids in need. They will provide free back to school haircuts for underprivileged children 5-years-old to 15-years-old.
