Dennis Warner, a Minnesota nationally acclaimed singer-songwriter-guitarist in the folk and American tradition, will perform at Concerts on the Creek at Spring Creek UCC, located at 4500 Spring Creek Road in Rockford. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Big Thunder Grange Breakfast will host a fundraiser breakfast at Applebee’s Restaurant, located at 2126 Gateway Center Dr. in Belvidere from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The cost is only $5. Proceeds will go to promote Community Service projects of Big Thunder Grange, such as the Salvation Army Food frenzy, Jim Marks Memorial Scholarship, for Agriculture Students, Boone County Fair, Relay of Life, Home Town Christmas, Annual Toy Show, Junior Grange Program, Provide for Families in Need, Support our Military, Habitat for Humanity and Support rural and Agricultural interest locally, statewide and nationally. We invite you to attend and as we say, “enjoy a short stack for a tall cause.” Hope to see you there.
The Moose Lodge, located at 575 Beloit Road, will host a car show from 8a.m. to 3 p.m. The entry fee is $10 to have cars judged. All makes, models, and years are welcome. Food and refreshments will be available.
Sister Cities will host the Taste of Sister Cities Sock Hop featuring German, French, and American foods at the Boone County Community Building Complex, located at 111 W. First St. in Belvidere. Tickets are $20 a person. Cocktail hour will begin at 4:30 p.m. with dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar. Music will begin at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will support the Youth Exchange of the Belvidere Sisters Cities Association.
Poplar Grove will host Neighbors’ Fest celebration all day at Lions Park off of Route 173 behind North Boone Fire District III station and Poplar Grove Village Hall.
Trinadora US Roots and Andrew Robinson will perform from 3 p.m. to midnight at the Late Night Flea Market at the Boone County Fairgrounds. Admission is $5.
The Boone County Health Department will host the Emergency Medication Dispensing Full Scale Exercise from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Belvidere High School, located at 1500 East Ave. in Belvidere. This exercise will provide an overview of the Boone County Health Department’s Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Plan. The live operations based dispensing exercise will test our capability to dispense mock medications to our residents in the event of an intentional release of a biological agent. The Boone County Arts Council will host another Concert in the Park at the Baltic Mill Stage in Belvidere. Holmes Productions will perform contemporary folk and rock music. VFW Post 1461, located at 1310 W. Lincoln Ave. in Belvidere, will host a Father’s Day breakfast on Sunday, June 19 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend this all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet consisting of steak, eggs cooked to order, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, sausage (links and patties), French toast, pancakes, applesauce, fruit cocktail, milk, juice, and coffee. The cost is $9 for adults who order steak, $8 for adults who choose not to have the steak, and children younger than 12 are $4.
In honor of Father’s Day, Beaver Creek Golf Course, located at 19619 Leroy Center Road in Capron, will host a Father’s Day Breakfast and Golf day for dad for only $19.
