Winnebago wins Mike Mowen Track and Field Invite

Winnebago hosted this year’s Mike Mowen Invite on May 9. It was a big day for Winnebago boys track and field team, as they defended their home track against nine other competing teams. Byron, Rockford Lutheran, Lena-Winslow, Forreston, Oregon, Rockford Christian, Mendota, Galena, and Dakota were the other teams competing in this year’s invite.
Winnebago had some excellent individual performances to help them get the team victory last Friday. Daniel Hogdgon and Aiden Vasquez both placed in the top three of the 800 meters race. Hogdgon took second with a time of 1:59.25. Vasquez was right behind him at 1:59.43. Nicolai Martino claimed first-place in the 3200 meters race with a time of 9:00.96. Sam Kaap took third in the 3200 with a time of 10:25.66.
In the 110 meter hurdles, Winnebago’s Drew Intravaia took home first-place with a time of 16.64. Intravaia also took first-place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.41. Myles Smith took second in the high jump with a 1.75-meter jump. Smith also took first-place in the long jump with a 6.17-meter jump.
Blaise Brown tied Smith with a high jump of 1.75-meters. Brown also recently signed to play college basketball at Dominican University in River Forrest, Illinois.
In the pole vault, Blake Inglima picked up a first-place finish with a distance of 3.72-meters.
Winnebago had athletes near the top of pretty much every competition. In the end, the team scores showed that, as Winnebago took home first place with 146 points. Byron claimed second place with 128 points. Lena-Winsow placed third with 74 points.
