Congratulations to members of Winnovation Robotics Team on being the Iowa Regional Finalists. They earned a Wildcard and will compete in Houston at World Championships in April. We had a great weekend competing with 55 other teams.

Winnovation team 1625 participated in the 2023 Iowa Regional last week, competing and cooperating with other teams in qualification and elimination matches.

Throughout the qualification matches, Winnovation kept a steady lead, placing 3rd overall and always staying in the top 15.

During the alliance selection, Winnovation was chosen by the first seed captain, Trojan Robotics, team 2264. Together, Winnovation and Trojan robotics decided on their third pick, Knights of the Valley (team 2667) and formed alliance 1.

After the first match, Winnovation and its alliance substituted Unity4Tech (team 5837) in replacement for their first pick (team 2667). They played with team 5837 for the rest of the elimination matches.

From there they progressed to the championship match, in which alliance 1 and alliance 2 competed to win the Iowa Regional.

Unfortunately, Winnovation and its alliance lost the championship to alliance 2, ultimately placing second overall in the Iowa Regional. By placing second, they received a plaque and trophy for being the finalists.

Even though Winnovation lost, they were still able to acquire a ticket to the FIRST 2023 World Championship through a Wildcard’. A Wildcard is another chance to qualify for the 2023 World Championship, only generated if a winning team has already qualified.

The Winnovation robotics team is about more than just building robots. Through outreach and projects, it endeavors to build its local community. Winnovation is a robotics team, but above all else it’s a FIRST team. With the support of its generous sponsors and local towns, Winnovation is dedicated to spreading STEM, opportunities, and fun throughout its community and world.
