Winnovation heads west to compete
Winnovation Team 1625 will be heading west to the University of Northern Iowa, located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to compete in the Iowa Regional Robotics competition set to take place March 22-23. There will be 47 teams competing from Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, California, Missouri, Minnesota, and Nebraska. High school teams are often recognized by when they were first formed and Winnovation will be the ninth oldest team in this competition. This is Winnovation’s fifteenth season competing in FIRST Robotics Competitions. The team is made up of students from Winnebago and Pecatonica high schools.
Winnovation Team 1625 has been working hard on building not one, but two robots. The team always builds a second robot, just like the first one, so that they can practice. The first robot is wrapped in plastic as it awaits use in competition, as per contest rules. Winnovation Team 1625 has dubbed the robot for this season “Russell.”
The theme for this year’s game is Destination: Deep space. The robot is made to put balls in rockets and cargo bays. The team is excited, as this is the first competition of the season.
