On Wednesday, Jan. 4, students across Boone County returned to school after a nice break from academics. With the return to school also means a return to winter sports, such as the junior bowling league at Concordia Lanes, located at 1205 Logan Ave. in Belvidere.
The first session of bowlers competed on Saturday, Jan. 7, and the second league of bowlers returned to the alleys after school on Monday, Jan. 9.
Although the fluffy snow was coming down making road conditions a bit sketchy, five bowlers still returned to the bowling alley to strike their way onto the high scoring list for the youth bowling league.
In the Bantams division, two young ladies led the pack with the highest scores and series of the bunch. Noel Capodanno scored a 77 with a 135 series, and Brooklynn Wilkinson scored an 87 with a 161 series.
In the Preps league, Branndon Fowler came out on top with a 131 game and a 344 series. Not too far behind was Skiler Wright with a 122 game accompanied by a 278 series.
In the Junior/Majors category, Trevor Dawley had a solo victory, taking home a 155 game and a 409 series.
This group of bowlers will be able to show off their improvements again on Monday, Jan. 16.
