“We are raising money for an expansion of the building. It will contain a new Youth Services Program room. We also want to install a drive-up book return. That is our goal.
“I really love this area. I have been working as a full-time paramedic with Lifeline Ambulance. I have also been a volunteer firefighter in Capron with Chief Greg Holmes.”
Melillo has been documenting his fledgling business on YouTube. He split his hives in July and now has four producing hives still within his first year of beekeeping.
This year the long-running annual event had 30 Chamber of Commerce members competing, 17 sets of judges (judges work in pairs), and a possible score of 850 points.
“I have completed 27 years for the BFD and I have started my 28th year. It’s been a good – a real good – career. I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of great guys. Overall, a wonderful bunch of guys. The city has done an excellent job of hiring good people.”
