Belvidere School District 100 donates school furniture to Haiti

	School Superintendent Dan Woestman and the Blue Thunder basketball team filled a second ship-ping container (for a total of four this week) on Thurs-day, June 13, to go to Haiti.

Developing countries such as Haiti can lack the basic educational equipment such as desks, tables, and chairs to accommodate their students. School Superintendent Dan Woestman says the district is excited to be involved with this project.

 
 

Hooked on Fishing Clinic succeeds despite flooding

	Entire families came out to fish and spend time together in the beauty of the outdoors during the Hooked on Fishing event.

“We only have so much room this year. We have lost about 75 percent of our fishing area due to flooding. We can’t reach the other side of the pond.”

 
 

Volunteer’ reward gifted to Boone County Fire District #2

	Brent Bryan is donating his $10,000 volunteerism award for equipment that will aid the fire district’s efforts in the community.

The money from Brent’s “Energy for the Community” award will go towards the purchase of HURST Jaws of Life, which are cutters for emergency rescue.

Memorial Day Celebration at Lawrenceville Cemetery

	The 4-H Grasshoppers decorate the graves of veterans with flowers and flags.

The South would give their dead battlefield burials and bury the soldiers where they had died. These shallow graves were unsanitary and impractical for all intents and purposes. The North would collect their fallen and bury them with markers.
